London Towne (Submitted by )
I moved to London Towne in June 2006 and really like it. It is older and picturesque with lots of tall trees and close to parkland with walking trails. I have one of the older townhouses built in 1966. Some of the townhouses have up to 4 bathrooms which is a good selling point for large families. There is a commuter park and ride lot and bus stop a short walk away. Parts of the neighborhood feel rural, but it is convenient to I-66 and public transit.

Woodgate (Submitted by MJ)
The neighborhood is a mix of families with grown children to young couples and single people. Most of the homes are well maintained. The positive attributes are the community’s close proximity to Rt. 66 and the accessibility of 28 on one side of the main road and 29 on the other. There is a fire station in the neighborhood and the community pool is acceptably maintained. The middle and high schools, Stone and Westfields, are both newly built and well reputed. The negatives pertain mostly to the rental properties, where the tenants take considerably less care of their lawns and home exteriors. Fortunately, probably fewer than one in five homes are rental properties. There are also several residents who own small businesses and bring their work vehicles home with them. This leads to a continuous struggle over the enforcement of parking policies, particularly that visitor spots are for visitors and not for residents with more than two vehicles. The elementary school, London Towne, is less desirable due to the high percentage of students from a low-income neighborhood and students who speak English as a second language. However, in two and one-half years in Woodgate, I have not heard of one incident of crime or vandalism in the neighborhood and would recommend it for a starter home for individuals or families with either pre-school or secondary school-aged children.

Newgate (Submitted by CK)
Newgate has a variety of home types -- houses, townhouses, and apartments, attracting working singles and families to the community. There is a large pool and tennis and basketball courts, and community events year-round. Improvements have been made to the community itself, such as new message boards, and parking lot enhancements are under review. The HOA fee is reasonable and covers trash, recyling and snow removal, etc. Newgate is very convenient to major Rts 28 and 50, and equal distance from the 2 Centreville exits off Interstate 66.
