Chevy Chase (Submitted by WSN)
Chase Chase is a nice area. The people there are generally well-educated, friendly but overly so and will to be both interactive and leave you space. The housing stock is varied in terms of size and style, but generally well maintained. Shop, cinemas and restaurants are near-by and with good selection. Access to DC and to the beltway are both very good.
The public schools are good, but with plenty of private schools if that is your preference. Prices are very high and have rised sharply over the last few years. Services from the county are good, but there is interest in having the neighborhood where I live become incorporated. The county is just too bid a political entity to speak to the more specific needs of Chevy Chase. I wish that all of Chevy Chase could be incorporated into a true town rather than having 3-4 smaller incorporated jurisdicitions.

Rock Creek Forest (Submitted by JPC)
A terrific family neighborhood halfway between the Bethesda and Silver Spring metros—just under two miles, but on a major busline down East-West Highway. As its name suggests, the sub-division is adjacent to Rock Creek Park with easy access to the Meadowbrook Stables and Candy Cane City—both newly renovated. The east side of the area is marked by Rock Creek Forest Elementary and its Spanish immersion program and a small strip shopping center with a health club, dry cleaners, Sherwin Williams paint store, Red Dog café, Silver Spring food co-op, and the Parkway Deli, D.C’s best with wonderful matzo ball soup. It’s cheaper than west of Connecticut Avenue with all the benefits and cache of a Chevy Chase location.

Rock Creek Forest (Submitted by aes)
Terrific neighborhood with tree-lined streets, access to Rock Creek Park, Meadowbrook Stables and Candy Cane City (not to mention the famous Parkway Deli). Situated between Chevy Chase/Bethesda and Silver Spring off East-West Hwy. Inside the Beltway and removed from major thoroughfares. Close to downtown DC. Most houses were built in the early 40s, so are on the smallish side. However, folks are renovating, adding on, or raising the roof. Community pool and tennis courts available.
