Comments about Derwood

Shady Woods (Submitted by KH)

We recently relocated from Texas to this area and love the "East Texas" feel of our neighborhood. It has lots of trees which provides privacy and a serene feeling. Most importantly, we're minutes from the Shady Grove Metro, which is a major plus. We purchased in this area not only because we truly like it but one day, we plan to move back to Texas and know our home will have a nice resale value. We looked long and hard for a nice home and neighborhood and are very satisfied with what we found.

We chose to stay in this neighbourhood for many reasons.(we moved a grand total of one mile from a town home to a single family)The schools are award winning, very low crime rate, suburb living close to the city without have to deal with city politics. There are a lot of up coming plans for this neighbourhood around the shady grove metro including new library, schools, parks and restaurants which for me sounds like a great place for a family with young children !

Candlewood Park (Submitted by JM)

Excellent neighborhood that is close to the Metro and convenient to amenities, shopping, etc. but has a quiet, serene feel to it. The neighborhood backs up against Rock Creek Park and is full of mature trees. The bulk of the neighborhood was built in the early 1970s with a section that was completed later in the 1980s. The turnover has been significant in the past 10 years with many younger families moving in.
