Neighborhood comments from local residents

Lake Barcroft (Submitted by NR)

I loved living in Lake Barcroft! The only reason we moved out of the neighborhood is because of a move out of the NoVa area. It is an eclectic mix of homes in a neighborhood community that offers a unique oasis inside the beltway. Lake Barcroft draws and keeps families because it is truly a 'neighborhood' community. People watch out for and reach out to one another. It is a particularly kid friendly and pet friendly neighborhood. The unique neighborhood aspect is promoted by numerous community activities including parades, holiday celebrations, block parties, and groups such as the Newcomers Club which provide any number of ways to connect. The setting is an oasis inside the beltway because of the care and concern taken in preserving and protecting the natural beauty of the lake, the trees and the wildlife that is abundant in Lake Barcroft. The lake offers a serene focal point for many of the community activities. There are sand beaches with life guards for safe swimming, boating, kayaking and canoeing. It is truly a wonderful place to live for oneself or to raise a family. Lake Barcroft will always hold our fondest memories of living in Northern Virginia.

Lake Barcroft (Submitted by KAK)

Lake Barcroft is a wonderful community that offers a rural feeling less than 10 miles from DC. The neighborhood, centered around a lake, boasts mature trees and unique houses on larger plots. Residents can swim, fish and boat on the lake. The Community hosts 4th of July fireworks, an ice cream social, easter egg hunt, labor day games and more. If one likes to be involved in the community there are plenty of opportunities. One can also keep to oneself and choose not to interact. The little oasis is a five minute drive to Harris Teeter and the stores at Bailey's Crossroads.
