Neighborhood comments from local residents

Amberleigh (Submitted by KZI)

Amberleigh is a quiet, friendly subdivision with about 600 homes. It's approximately 20 years old. Our nearest neighbors are Kingstowne and Springfield. Our children attend Island Creek Elementary School (opened in 2003) and Hayfield Middle/High Schools. The crime rate is very low in Amberleigh. It is a very family-friendly neighborhood. Many families have young children, and trick-or-treating is tremendous fun on Halloween. One "perk" here at Amberleigh is a pedestrian trail that connects our community to the Franconia-Springfield Metro (about a 10-minute walk); a bus also takes you there. The only drawback to Amberleigh is the lack of a swimming pool. (We do have tennis courts, playgrounds, and a basketball court.)

overall nice neighborhood. HOA takes good care of the grounds and makes sure all homes maintain visual continuity. I have lived there for over 10 years and I have noticed an increase of absintee ownership/renters. A lot of cabbies live there and there has been an influx of a more urban feel of late. Not to diminish from the overall appeal of the 'hood but the dynamic has definitely changed.
