Comments about Gaithersburg N Potomac

Westleigh (Submitted by mn)

Nice neighborhood -- some of the houses are over 30 yrs old, so trees have grown up. The neighborhood is generally pretty interactive, though it varies. Having kids in the elementary school (DuFief) seems to be the key to knowing a lot more of your neighbors.

West Riding (Submitted by SKT)

We love this neighborhood. It's an established neighborhood with many kids who grew up in this neighborhood buying and moving in with their families. Most of our neighbors are friendly and welcoming and we have a Mom's group for mothers of young children that we use to share ideas, information and to set up playdates. Because our community is a bit older, we have mature trees, wides streets and affordable houses. We also have a well-regarded elemntary school within the neighborhood.

Relda Square (Submitted by LKZ)

This is a small, older neighborhood right near the Kentlands in Gaithersburg, MD. The neighborhood is mostly empty-nesters and younger families. The houses were built in the mid-late 1970s and there is not a huge amount of turnover, which makes it one of the more affordable communities in the area. The proximity to the Kentlands is a great plus, as well as back road access, neighborhood common ground in a park like setting and the fact that most houses are located in courts. The biggest negative is the size of the lots, but many of them back to woods. Many homes have been renovated and most seem well taken care of. The yards are well kept and the neighbors are generally friendly. There are neighborhood get togethers as well as yard sales, etc, but we have not taken part in those for various reasons having nothing to do with the neighborhood. The HOA is very considerate. The area feels safe and is very quiet. The one story and split level homes are relatively small, but well laid out. The two story homes look smaller from the outside than they are. All houses have good-sized basements. The houses have teeny tiny master baths, unless the baths have been renovated at some point. Parking is exceptionally good.
