Comments about Laurel SE

Montpelier, Laurel, MD (Submitted by BB)

The Montpelier Community is a lovely microcosm in the midst of a larger area in much need of gentrification (Laurel proper). This suburban neighborhood is clean, extremely quiet, well-maintained and quite attractive, and is ideal for families and older retired couples (not so much for younger, childless couples). Community amenities include tennis courts, pool facilities and playgrounds, all of which are supported by mandatory community association fees. Located in PG County, the neighborhood has experienced its share of the crime for which this county is notorious, mostly involving house break-ins and stolen or vandalized cars. If Laurel continues to develop in a positive direction and can satisfactorily address its crime issues, this could be one of the most desireable suburbs in the Washington, DC-Metro area in the next few years.
