Hamlet at Leesburg/Downtown Leesburg (Submitted by RR)
Little neighborhood (34 homes) tucked just off of Business 15 (King Street) in downtown Leesburg. Definitely small-town living - easy walking access to shops, cafes in Leesburg not far from Leesburg Corner Outlets. Easy access to rural Loudoun County via Rtes. 15, 7, and 9. Town recreational facilities at Ida Lee Park are phenomenal - indoor pool, library, gym, walking trails, tennis courts, etc.
Taxes/fees are average, town services are quite good - including cultural activites. No good sense of school system yet. Leesburg could use a bit more culinary diversity, but it's getting there.
Description is essentially the same for Exeter (much larger neighborhood that adjoins ours). 20176 is a geographically huge zip code, so not all attributes apply to entire area.

Potomac Station (Submitted by NB)
Potomac Station is a huge Leesburg Neighborhood located in the north-eastern tip of Leesburg. It's a great commuting location - right off of Rte 7 and Rte 15 and not far from the Toll Road and Rte 28. Surrounded by shopping, restaurants, the Leesburg Premium Outlets and the upcoming Lansdowne Town Center(being built now). There are 1400 homes, a pool/clubhouse, playgrounds, basketball, tennis, adn tons of community events.

NW Leesburg (Submitted by MLA)
Leesburg is 40 miles NW of DC and has a great small town feel with many of the amenities of a larger suburb. It is home to a fantastic outlet mall, a cute historic downtown, and many historical sites such as Balls Bluff National Park and Oatlands Plantation.
Unlike many of suburbs in northern VA, we think this town has a real community spirit, a soul, in marked contrast to Fairfax. There's Halloween and Independence Day parades through the center of town, Memorial Day rememberances, concerts on the town hall green, etc.
However, traffic is becoming an increasing problem and no solution is in sight. Would be best for someone who worked in Loudoun County or at the airport, otherwise be prepared for long and/or early commutes.
Nice mix of houses, everything from 19th century stone cottages and old farmhouses to split-levels and brick mansions. You can find any size house and architectural style here.
Not personally familar with the schools but from what we hear, the school system is good. There's also a number of private schools in the area.
We love our block and have frequent cook outs with our neighbors. We live in an area of smaller houses and yards so families with children are not in the majority but there are children on the block. There's a safe feeling here.
The shop owners in the historic part of town are consistently friendly and recognize us as regulars, although we've heard from a lot of "old timers" that the small town feeling of Leesburg is quickly evaporating. There's some underlying tension between natives and newcomers in terms of steadily increasing property values and corresponding property taxes.
Just five minutes west of town, is the scenic "horse and hunt" country that Loudoun is known for. This represents a nice contrast to some of the more modern amenities and conveniences in Leesburg (Best Buy, Home Depot, etc.)
We wish Leesburg would have more casual restaurants and upscale bars but Sterling and Ashburn have plenty of both (20-30 mintues east).
