Quaker Hill (Submitted by KR)
Very well-maintained community with particular attention to landscaping and aesthetics, thanks in part to the participation of a resident landscape architect. Many trees and plantings have been added and continue to be added since the community's inception in the fall of 1989.

Old Town Alexandria (Submitted by BLN)
Absolutely phenomenal place to live. Conveniently located near lots of great restaurants, shops, etc. Nice neighbors. Lots of pretty trees and greenery. Eclectic mix of old, historic homes and buildings and new, more modern structures.

Old Town Alexandria (Submitted by DSS)
If you like history, charm and convenience of a small town within a bigger urban area, you will love Old Town. Within a few minutes' walk are tons of restaurants, shops, banks, and government offices. Also within walking distance are the Potomac river, parks, a weekly farmer's market, and the public library. Old Town attracts a lot of tourists and visitors, so it helps to be tolerant of people with fanny packs. The area is also VERY dog-friendly: several off-leash parks, at least two dog bakeries/specialty shops, and a few eateries with dog-friendly areas. Dog-phobics would not do well here. The neighborhood seems to attract empty-nesters, young couples, and families with young children, but unfortunately is not terribly diverse - yet! We love Old Town in part because we are history buffs and part-time preservationists (our home was built in 1795), but we chose it and still enjoy it because it prompts us to get outside and walk so much - to restaurants, to the dog park, to live music concerts in the square, or just to the CVS.
