Dupont Circle (Submitted by HG)
I love it! It feels so safe -- a great small part of a bigger city. I have my gym, cleaners, farmers market all within a 5 block radius - it is like a small town instead of a city. My neighbors are so friendly and we all care about each other in my building. We're diverse in terms of age but accepting and protecting. I love my location because I can be in Adams Morgan, Georgetown, Downtown -- in 5 minutes! Or Arlington Cemetary, downtown, the Mall etc. in 10 miuntes. Or anything in the whole city in 10 minutes. Or I could walk anything on a good night!

Living in DC in Dupont Circle is the best of everything in terms of living in DC. Restaurants, bars, grocery stores, Metro and other easy transportation - everything is within a few blocks. There is a real sense of community, and there is usually something fun going on in the actual Dupont Circle too - impromptu bands, entertainment, even chess tournaments in the summer.

Dupont Circle (Submitted by A.F.)
I've lived in Dupont Circle for eight years now, first on the western side of the Circle (22nd and N Streets) and then -- for the last six years - over on the easter side at 17th and Corcoran, near the Safeway. Without reservation, I love it. Each side of the Circle has its own dynamic, from the more quiet, almost-Foggy-bottom vibe of the western side, to the patio-seating-restaurant vibe of the eastern side.
One of the main reasons I advocate Circle living is the location. I used to work downtown (18th and K) and found that I could walk to work in 10-15 minutes. (When I stopped my walking commute, I quickly tallied up 10 lbs!) It's a 10 minute walk up 18th Street to the heart of Adams Morgan and those restaurants, or 5-10 minutes up New Hampshire to U Street and those restaurants. Now that there's a Whole Foods over on P Street, I quite honestly think I could live without a car. Just last night my boyfriend and I wanted to see a movie over in Penn Quarter/Chinatown and walked there. When I have guests in town, I can walk them down to the Memorials, across the Mall and the museums to the Capitol building and Eastern Market. By the time we Metro home, they're exhausted and have a good feel for the city.
You can find more space somewhere else, but you can't replicate the vibe or the central location.
